Volume is increased either using the patient\u2019s own fat tissue (Brazilian Butt Lift), firm silicone implants, or a combination of both techniques. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) using the patient\u2019s own fat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BBL is currently the most popular method of buttock augmentation and involves two steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Procedure:<\/strong> First, fat tissue is removed from other parts of the body (e.g. the abdomen, hips, back) using liposuction. This fat is specially processed and purified. The surgeon then uses fine cannulas to inject the harvested autologous fat precisely into various layers of the subcutaneous fat tissue on the buttocks in order to sculpt the desired shape and roundness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Results &amp; Shelf life:<\/strong> The result looks and feels very natural. Some of the transplanted fat cells (usually 50\u201370%) become permanently established, whilst the rest are broken down by the body. The final result is visible after a few months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Buttock augmentation with implants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This method is ideal for very slim female patients who do not have sufficient fat deposits, or who wish to achieve a very pronounced, rounded projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Procedure:<\/strong> Through an inconspicuous incision in the gluteal crease, the surgeon creates a pocket for the implant. To achieve a natural-looking result and to protect the implant effectively, it is usually placed within the gluteus maximus muscle (<em>Gluteus maximus muscle<\/em>) or above the muscle (subfascial\/subcutaneous). Placement beneath the muscle (submuscular) is not common with gluteal implants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Results &amp; Shelf life:<\/strong> The result is an immediately visible, significant increase in size and a more rounded shape. The risks are significant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In BBL, the most serious, albeit rare, complication is fat embolism, in which fat accidentally enters a blood vessel and is carried, for example, to the lungs or other organs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The main risks associated with implants are displacement (dislocation), a visible implant margin, impaired wound healing or capsular fibrosis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As these are cosmetic procedures, the costs of treating any complications or of any necessary revision surgery are not covered by health insurance.
